Construction of a pedestrian and cyclist connection between Žusterna and Markovec

New construction of a connection to Markovec: The project includes a vertical structure with a connecting viaduct, comprising a shop/restaurant, sanitary facilities, and a service room. The connection will be linked to public utility infrastructure. The spatial arrangement of the new object involves a viaduct for cyclists and pedestrians with elevators in the pillar, an observation deck, and a canopy; an overpass with an elevator and staircase, which integrates a catering facility with accompanying programs and public sanitary facilities; bicycle storage on the lower and upper levels; a retaining wall for slope excavation protection; and external landscaping on the lower and upper levels with access paths, paving, renovation of the existing amphitheater, infrastructure setup, and utility connections including the necessary relocation of public lines. The lower entry/exit platform (overpass) allows crossing Istrska Road and direct access to the two elevators for pedestrians and cyclists. The upper entry/exit platform (viaduct) is located at the upper level of Markovec hill. Two covered bicycle storage facilities are planned as separate associated buildings. A retaining wall for slope stabilization and a horizontal reinforced concrete slab between the tower and the retaining wall, integrated into the viaduct pillar structure, are also part of the project. The pillar and viaduct will be executed in exposed concrete, the catering facility will have a partially glazed facade, and the canopies in front of the elevators will consist of glass on a steel substructure.
