Removal and Disposal of SF6-containing HTB and HTA Devices

Removal and Disposal of SF6-containing HTB and HTA Devices: End-of-life or damaged high and very high voltage equipment (HTB and HTA) in France are to be removed and disposed of. This includes handling (loading and unloading), conditioning if necessary (palletizing, potentially specific provisions for withdrawable circuit breakers), transport, and processing according to regulations. The SF6 gas must be extracted with a recovery rate of at least 90% for regeneration, prioritizing the recovery of solid materials (in accordance with EU Regulation 517/2014). This covers gas extraction with minimized atmospheric leakage, if necessary, purification of the extracted gas or its destruction/return to the manufacturer for destruction/reprocessing. If required, neutralization of solid decomposition products (powders, molecular sieves) contained in degassed devices is included. Disposal of neutralized devices is to be performed by prioritizing material recycling and minimizing landfill.
