Development of a Museum App and CMS for the Jahrtausendturm Magdeburg

Development, implementation, commissioning, and multi-year operation of a Progressive Web App (PWA) and a Content Management System (CMS) for the Jahrtausendturm in Elbauenpark Magdeburg: The app must be usable on Android and iOS devices, as well as on HTML5-standard supporting browsers and operating systems like Microsoft Windows, Apple macOS, and Linux, without installation. It provides functions for use both inside and outside the museum, including 360-degree panoramas, service information, multilingual content, tours, audio, video, text, and image content, QR code-based exhibit calls, knowledge rallies, social sharing, feedback options, plain language, and screen reader support. A feature allows educators to create individual rallies for school classes with subsequent evaluation. The exhibition in the Jahrtausendturm spans six levels with approximately 8,030 m² of exhibition space, comprising 251 text panels, 120 textile representations, and 158 exhibits (61 of which are interactive); Wi-Fi is available throughout the building. Requirements include GDPR compliance, digital accessibility, software modifiability during the maintenance phase, traceable technical documentation, and safeguarding of further development. The briefing is tentatively scheduled for December 2026, with completion by mid-2027; further items as per the tender documents.
