Detection of Freshwater Pearl Mussel Presence using eDNA Method in Simojoki and Hossanjoki Areas
Detection of freshwater pearl mussel (Margaritifera margaritifera) presence in running waters using the eDNA method: Investigations are based on species-specific PCR-based eDNA analysis (qPCR or dPCR) and focus on areas for stream restorations. The procurement is divided into two parts: investigations in the Lapland region (Simojoki water system) and the Ostrobothnia-Kainuu region (Hossanjoki water system). Restoration sites will be selected from streams and confirmed by the end of August 2026 at the latest. Sample collection will take place in September 2026 after site confirmation. The final report with appendices must be submitted by January 26, 2027.
