Automated bird monitoring for bird presence and behavior
Recording and evaluation of video material on bird presence and behavior in the track environment: Video material is recorded at existing and one newly installed camera location and evaluated using a method developed in a previous project. Additionally, video material from the driver's cab of rail vehicles is evaluated using the same method. The aim is to obtain representative information to assess the risk to birds from collision and presence near mast disconnectors and on cantilevers of overhead line masts, in order to create an information basis on the impact of rail traffic and infrastructure on birds.
