Research on Bird Collisions and Effectiveness of Hawk Eye Wire Markers for the Vierverlaten-Ens 380 kV Connection
Research on the effectiveness of Hawk Eye wire markers and updating key figures for bird collisions per species: A current baseline measurement of bird collision numbers under and in the immediate vicinity of the existing 220 kV high-voltage connection between Vierverlaten and Ens will be conducted. Subsequently, the effectiveness of mitigating measures will be investigated by applying them to selected masts and conductors and monitoring the results. The research project aims to provide scientific evidence for Hawk Eye wire markers as a mitigating measure under Dutch conditions and to establish a knowledge base for informed decisions on reducing bird collisions. The results are required for the permitting of the Vierverlaten-Ens 380 kV (VVL-ENS380) project and for TenneT-wide application.
