Forestry Services for Reforestation

Preparatory work before planting: Reforestation areas will be ground and soil worked to enable two types of planting: full-area planting or enrichment by plots. The service includes two tasks: surface grinding and soil work. Surface grinding for full reforestation: mechanized in-line grinding, 2.5 m width, lines spaced 3 m apart, with a 0.5 m unground inter-row. Grinding is performed at ground level to reduce forest weeds, logging residues, and protruding stumps. The mulch remains on the surface. Prior staking/marking of each line is required. Environmentally sensitive areas and elements to be preserved must be protected. Access for machinery on load-bearing soil. For enrichment reforestation (50 plots per hectare): manual cleaning or mechanized grinding of marked plots, each 5 m x 5 m = 25 m², to remove forest weeds and logging residues. Prior staking/marking of each plot is required. Environmentally sensitive areas and elements to be preserved must be protected. Access to plots only via existing operational compartments. Soil work for full reforestation: two techniques, in lines spaced 3 m apart, with a plant spacing of 1.7 m within the line. Subsoiling/Ploughing: use of a winged subsoiling tooth (or equivalent) in lines, to a minimum depth of 40 cm (reducible for very stony soils) for soil decompaction and drainage. The subsoiling tooth is lifted every 20 to 25 meters. Staking/marking of each plot. Ploughing with a covercrop or similar tool is possible on certain areas. Pitting: preferred for short linear distances, thick mulch layer, or frequent obstacles. Creation of pits with a subsoiling tooth or equivalent tool and mechanical excavator (2.5 to 8 tonnes). The soil is worked without turning (closed, worked pits without extraction, without turning horizons, without bringing up stones) for decompaction and loosening, with an average volume of 60 cm wide, 60 cm long, and 60 cm deep. For enrichment reforestation by plots (50 per hectare): only pitting technique, 9 plants per plot, i.e., 450 plants per hectare. Creation of pits with a subsoiling tooth or equivalent tool and mechanical excavator (2.5 to 8 tonnes). The soil is worked without turning (closed, worked pits without extraction, without turning horizons, without bringing up stones) for decompaction and loosening, with an average volume of 60 cm wide, 60 cm long, and 60 cm deep.
