Funeral Services for the City of Helsinki

Funeral services: Provision of funeral services for deceased residents of Helsinki, primarily for individuals eligible for social assistance. The service begins with the handover of the deceased from the storage location to the service provider and concludes with the burial. Burials are predominantly cremations, with coffin burials only for justified reasons, considering cultural, religious beliefs, and burial customs. Services include funeral arrangements, family support at the funeral office, cooperation with the responsible party, preparation and dressing of the deceased, a small flower bouquet for the coffin or urn, and transportation within the capital region. The service provider is also responsible for ordering, picking up, and providing clothing, coffin, and urn, as well as intermediate storage of coffins. Bearers and assistant services may be utilized as defined. At least one service point within the city of Helsinki is required. Approximately 450 payment commitments were issued in 2024, and approximately 460 in 2025. The estimated number of burials is under 500 per year. One (1) service provider will be selected; the client is not committed to specific purchase quantities, services are ordered as needed.
