Fabrication of AP1000 safety-related steel and concrete composite (SC) wall panels (SC40) for the cylindrical Shield Building of Units 2 & 3: The cylindrical part of the Shield Building has an outside radius of 22.1 m and a thickness of 0.91 m. For each unit, 167 individually fabricated/shipped SC40 panels are required, divided into four main types and 56 unique panel groups. The panels are of steel composite construction with 19.1 mm to 25.4 mm thick rolled carbon steel plates, welded tie bars, welded tie plates, and welded shear studs. Each SC panel weighs between 12 and 23 metric tonnes. The scope of supply also includes miscellaneous structural components such as embedment plates, gusset plates, attachment plates, and nuts/washers. The panels are classified as Safety Related, Seismic Category I, and Westinghouse Safety Class C, according to ANSI/AISC N690-1994 and ACI 349-01. Services include project management, material procurement and receipt, preparation of fabrication drawings and procedures (welding, coating), work packages, manufacturing and assembly plans, quality and inspection plans, shop lifting and handling plans (including lug design, drawings, calculations, testing), transportation plan, testing plan, weld documentation, personnel and process qualifications, scheduling, documentation for site lifting, handling, and movement, documentation for site assembly, details of joint configuration for field-welded steel components, process qualification procedures and demonstration plans for critical processes (stud welding, automatic welding, long-seam butt welding, dimensional control, weld repairs), fabrication based on Westinghouse fleet design, temporary attachments, cleaning, marking, painting, packaging, Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) and other testing requirements as per fabrication specification, further items as per the tender documents.
