High-Energy Nanosecond Pulsed Laser System at 589 nm and Maintenance
Delivery and maintenance of a high-energy nanosecond pulsed laser system: Solid-state laser system for the sodium D2 wavelength (589 nm) for optical atmospheric sounding (Lidar), based on sum-frequency generation (SFG) of two diode-pumped Nd:YAG lasers with emission lines at 1064 nm and 1319 nm. The laser's linewidth is below 100 MHz (@ 589 nm). Seeding of both Nd:YAG lasers is largely integrated and tested; at minimum, seeding of the individual Nd:YAG lasers is prepared and tested for 1064 nm. The laser exhibits an energy of >10 mJ at 589 nm with a repetition rate of 300 Hz and pulse durations of a few tens of nanoseconds. The overall system is compact, robust (mechanically and thermally stable), durable, and low-maintenance. It features a PC interface for integration into IAP's own software. The Nd:YAG lasers are structurally identical to existing Innolas EVO-DPSS lasers to enable integration into IAP's own hardware and software and ensure an identical software interface.
