Modeling and Inversion of Electromagnetic Measurement Data in the INDEX License Area
Further development and application of 3D finite element modeling and inversion procedures: These are for the three-dimensional geophysical surveying and resource assessment of massive sulfide deposits (SMS) in the INDEX project license area of the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) on the Central and Southeastern Indian Ridge. Methods are developed and applied for the integrated geophysical characterization of SMS deposits through the combined evaluation of high-resolution EM coil data (low penetration depth, high lateral resolution, IP-sensitive), galvanic IP measurements (directly on the seabed), and large-scale electrical dipole-dipole data (HED system, high penetration depth up to ~100 m, lower resolution). New inversion and modeling approaches are developed and integrated into a consistent interpretation strategy.
