Nuclear Liability Insurance for 2027

Nuclear liability insurance for MVM Paksi Atomerőmű Zrt. for the year 2027, as legally required by the Hungarian Atomic Energy Act (Act CXVI of 1996): The existing insurance expires on December 31, 2026, at 24:00. The compensation limit is 100,000,000 SDR per insurance event and 125,000,000 SDR per insurance period. Additional limits include: interest on justified nuclear damage claims up to 115,000 SDR equivalent in HUF per insurance period, court-determined costs against the insured related to nuclear damage up to 115,000 SDR equivalent in HUF per insurance period, and legal representation costs for the insured related to nuclear damage compensation up to 230,000 SDR equivalent in HUF per insurance period. The HUF amounts are calculated at the official mid-rate of the MNB at the time of the nuclear accident. The insurance covers specific types of damages as defined by Section 2, Paragraph 23 of the Hungarian Atomic Energy Act. The insurer reimburses interest, costs, and legal representation costs up to these additional limits. Detailed information is available in the procurement documents.
