Remediation of contaminated soil for the Mikkeli locomotive depot area

Earthworks for the remediation of contaminated soil and waste removal for the former locomotive depot area in Mikkeli, Ratakatu 7, on properties 491-402-6-38, 491-871-6-13, 491-1-9906-0, 491-1-9909-0, 491-413-1-3-M503: Work involves mass exchange under a unit-price based total contract. The estimated contract value exceeds €150,000 (excl. VAT). Remediation is based on a PIMA decision from the Permit and Supervision Agency (LVV) dated 28.7.2026 (diary number LVV-U/103090/2026) and a remediation plan by Ramboll Finland Oy. Environmental technical supervision is provided by Ramboll Finland Oy. Execution is planned from 2.11.2026 to 31.7.2027, with the start dependent on legally binding decisions regarding the PIMA decision and the reception of contaminated soils. The reception of contaminated soils will be tendered separately, with a decision expected in November 2026. Soils will be delivered to reception sites later designated by the client. The soil contains contaminants exceeding the threshold, lower, and upper guideline values of Government Decree 214/2007, including organic waste (sawdust, bark, wood), a wood grillage structure (untreated and impregnated), PAH compounds, petroleum hydrocarbons, metals, TEX compounds, and PCDD/F and PCB compounds. A mandatory site visit will take place on 22.9.2026 and 24.9.2026 from 12:00 to 13:00; registration by 9:00 AM on the viewing day to Jani Myyryläinen (040 736 1142, jani.myyrylainen@mikkeli.fi).
