Supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of an Automated Thermal Desorber coupled with a Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometry (ATD-GCMS) for the analysis of ignitable liquids in vapour samples. This unit will be an addition to the current ATD-GCMS in the Fires team of the Chemistry department to manage the volume of fire cases submitted to FSI. Materials submitted for analysis include debris samples taken from a fire scene, clothing from suspects or victims, or any other solid sample where the presence of ignitable liquids needs to be determined. Such samples are submitted to the Laboratory in sealed nylon bags to accurately, reliably, and with an acceptable level of sensitivity determine whether such exhibits contain ignitable liquids.
