Management of Medical Technology – Biomedical and Other Devices

Management of all biomedical and other medical devices: comprehensive, standard-compliant, and economical management, overall responsibility for operation, maintenance, functionality, IT integration, technical safety, documentation, and regulatory compliance of all general medical technology. This includes components, software modules, peripheral systems, and device-related IT infrastructures. Excluded are stationary large imaging devices such as computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance tomography (MRT), angiography and fluoroscopy systems, stationary X-ray systems, mammography units, other permanently installed systems with ionizing radiation or complex imaging, associated high-pressure injectors, intravascular ultrasound devices, and contrast medium pumps. General medical technology includes monitoring and patient monitoring systems, infusion and nutrition technology, ventilators / anesthesia machines, endoscopy devices (flexible/rigid), ultrasound devices, mobile X-ray machines, operating room equipment and operating table/light systems, diagnostic small devices, functional diagnostics devices (ECG, EEG, spirometry, etc.), laboratory devices and near-patient laboratory devices (POCT, analysis devices), transport and resuscitation devices, emergency and intensive care medical devices, and other medical technology devices. Seamless assurance of operational readiness in 24/7 hospital operation is required, including technical, organizational, and documentary duties to ensure performance, safety, quality, and availability.
