Research Equipment for the Radioisotope Laboratory
Delivery of a TIMS (Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer) - solid-source mass spectrometer (1 unit): The device is intended for applications where isotopic measurements require the highest analysis precision. These include measurements of classic radiogenic isotopes in sediments, minerals, and rocks (87Sr/86Sr, 143Nd/144Nd, 206Pb/204Pb, 207Pb/204Pb, 208Pb/204Pb), as well as new innovative applications such as measurements of light isotopes of general geochemical interest (6Li/7Li, 9B/10B) and in climate change issues (42Ca/44Ca). The TIMS will also measure short-lived isotopes (210Pb, 90Sr) relevant for radioactive pollution problems and decadal-scale geochronology.
