Geothermal Energy Development for Public Institutions
Conversion of a disused hydrocarbon exploration well (MEZŐCSÁT – 1) into a thermal well for geothermal heating of 13 municipal properties. The thermal well is prognosticated for a flow rate of approx. 700 liters/minute and approx. 57 °C. The work comprises two phases: Phase 1 (Well Completion): Dismantling a 3-inch Christmas tree, installing a blowout preventer on a 9 5/8-inch casing head, cleaning the well up to 1071 m depth, geophysical logging, jet perforation of 33 linear meters in the 7-inch casing in depth ranges 815–820 m, 956–967 m, 971–976 m, 1020–1025 m, and 1060–1067 m with 24 shots per meter, followed by compressor cleaning and preliminary water flow and temperature measurement. Phase 2 (Well Completion and Wellhead Completion): Construction of a temporary cooling pond, installation of a 102 mm diameter steel insert filter (JOHNSON, 0.4 mm slot size) from 780 m to 1071 m, filling the annular space with graded gravel (expected 1-3 mm diameter), sealing the annulus with a 102/7-inch stuffing box, renewed compressor cleaning and test pumping with 2-hourly logging of operational parameters. Execution of instrumental well tests (bottom depth check, rheometry, capacity, pressure rise, and pressure gradient measurement, water and gas sample collection), transport of samples for analysis to an accredited laboratory, and documentation of geological and technical data. Wellhead Completion: Raising well fittings to ground level with a 3 m high riser pipe, preparing the existing tower foundation, filling and concreting the tower cellar, extending the 7-inch well casing by 30 cm above concrete slab level, welding a custom NA200 flange, connecting an NA 200/100 branching piece and a 3 m high riser pipe with an NA 100 gate valve. Installation of a well sealing cover with openings for the submersible pump discharge line (NA 80), cable (5/4 inch), and water level monitoring pipe (5/4 inch). Submersible pump discharge line: 89 x 4.5 mm steel pipe, installation up to 100 m. Planned submersible pump: Q = 42 m³/h, H = 60 m. Connection to an NA 80 flanged fitting series (water meter, check valve, gate valve, water and gas sampling tap, pressure and temperature transmitter). Installation of a pressure transmitter for water level detection approx. 10 m below operating water level in a 5/4 inch Ø HENCO pipe. Laying an NA 125/250 mm insulated PP pipeline to the heat center. Construction of an insulated plastic well house (1.0 x 2.3 x 1.2 m internal dimensions) on a concrete foundation.
