Mass Spectrometer with Peripheral Devices for the ZMT Chemistry Laboratory

Delivery of an EA-IR-MS with peripheral devices elemental analyzer and TC analyzer for the ZMT chemistry laboratory. The device is used for the determination of carbon, nitrogen, and their isotopes to analyze the isotopic composition of carbon and nitrogen. This is relevant for studies on climate change and biodiversity, particularly concerning the origin of carbon and nitrogen in coastal ecosystems (Blue Carbon), nitrogen in the sea (N-fixation), tracking anthropogenic nitrogen from agriculture and aquaculture in the sea (eutrophication, damage to seagrasses and coral reefs), and for food web investigations. These flows are to be linked with natural controls, causes, and drivers of coastal and hinterland development (e.g., land use changes, political changes, behavioral changes).
