Metrology System for the Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics and Acoustics
Delivery of a metrology system: for spatial and temporal characterization of fluid flows by measuring the 3 velocity components (3D3C) using two complementary methods: Lagrangian spatial and temporal particle tracking (4D-PTV) for measuring individual particle trajectories with possible projection onto an Eulerian grid at PIV-like particle densities, and tomographic PIV for spatial reconstruction of particle location at each time step. The system includes all hardware (cameras, lenses, illumination, computer) and the entire software chain for data acquisition and processing, as well as synchronization between the components. The equipment must be compact, have a reduced setup time, ensure optimal reproducibility, be able to cover a wide range of measurement volumes, and be easily transportable for shared use among several CNRS laboratories. It enables advanced flow characterization, providing data such as the velocity gradient tensor (all components), 3D acceleration, or pressure fields.
