Construction of Itäkeskus Primary School in Helsinki as a lifecycle project: Design for 700 unified primary school students, including education for grades 1-9, preparatory education for grades 7-9, inclusive preparatory education, and classroom-based special education. The school offers language-enriched Finnish-English instruction for all students in grades 1-4. Approximately 62% of students are foreign language speakers, and approximately 34% are special support students. Facilities suitable for TOI-, POY-, and EAU-special needs students' primary education will also be included. A large sports hall (902 m²) will be integrated into the school premises in cooperation with the culture and leisure sector. The Itäkeskus Primary School has a sports focus from the 7th grade onwards. The premises are designed to be accessible and suitable for all learners, supporting child growth and development. Outdoor areas will be equipped with play equipment, considering safety, supervision, community, physical activity, and versatile use as a learning and play space. A kindergarten located on the same plot operates 24 hours a day, necessitating special arrangements for noise, dust, and logistics management during demolition and new construction. Demolition permits are being sought for existing buildings; it is possible that some buildings (especially part A) cannot be demolished and must be renovated and integrated into the overall concept. Lifecycle responsibility for retained structures remains with the city. The project aims for ecologically sustainable construction, including longevity, low carbon footprint, circular economy principles, consideration of the plot's natural values, energy efficiency, and utilization of renewable energy sources. The procurement procedure is a competitive dialogue, with three candidate bidders selected for the negotiation phase. further items as per the tender documents.
