Redesign of Kornhaus Museum
Heritage-compliant renovation, modernization, and conversion of the Kornhaus in Kirchheim unter Teck: The four-story solid building from 1540-53 with a vaulted cellar will be upgraded in two construction phases. The 1st construction phase includes the renovation, repair, and modernization of the Kornhaus from ground floor to attic, the installation of the first escape route (east staircase) and an elevator down to the basement. The 2nd construction phase involves the renovation of the vaulted cellar and the natural stone vault after the removal of the combined heat and power plant, as well as the removal of all subsequent installations. The building will be upgraded in terms of building physics and fire protection, with sensitive handling of the original building fabric. Archaeological excavations/investigations are required for a new external staircase (basement to ground floor). Building footprint: approx. 40.80 x 14.70 m; Eave height: approx. 11.30 m or 11.700 m; Ridge height: approx. 20.300 m or 20.50 m. Total usable area approx. 1,800 sqm, total gross floor area approx. 3,430 sqm, total gross volume approx. 14,580 cbm. Ventilation technology includes a central air handling unit in the attic with approx. 8,000–10,000 m³/h air capacity, 3 ventilation shafts across all floors, approx. 400 m of air ducts (spiral-seam + rectangular ducts), approx. 40 long-throw nozzles (ground floor – 2nd floor), and approx. 20 swirl diffusers (attic). Fire protection and cable routing include 2 main shaft systems across all levels and approx. 30 fire-rated penetrations.
