Nuclear Germanium Detection System for Low Activity Determination in Aqueous Samples
Delivery, installation, and commissioning of a nuclear germanium detection system for low activity determination in aqueous samples: The system is for radioactivity determination (Bq/l) using a germanium detector to verify legal discharge limits (minimum detectable activity in the 10 to 1,000 Bq/l range) of wastewater from 10 radionuclide therapy rooms, 4 of which are for iodine therapies (I-131). Approximately 150 l/day of wastewater is generated per room, totaling approximately 1,500 l/day, with peaks up to 1,700 l/day over 2 weeks. The wastewater is treated in a dedicated treatment plant and subsequently contains low amounts of radioactive substances in the Bq/l to kBq/l range. The contract also includes the delivery, installation, and commissioning of the associated software system for radionuclide identification, activity determination (Bq/l), and reporting, as well as maintenance, periodic calibration, and training.
