Structural engineering for the renovation of a brick building's envelope
Structural engineering for the renovation and energetic optimization of a listed existing building (built 1861, office use) at Templergraben 86: Development of a technically and economically coordinated overall concept for the roof, facade, and PV systems. Key areas include the energetic upgrade of the attic, integration of a photovoltaic system, and necessary repair measures considering building physics, sustainability, and monument protection. The facade consists of natural stone, brick, and plaster. Phase 1 involves an inventory from the basement to the attic, based on existing plans from 1991 and section/elevation plans from 1967. For the planned photovoltaic system, reinforcement of the roof structure with additional rafters is foreseen; individual components may require upgrading. The installation of the photovoltaic system and the supplementation of lightning protection are planned. Measures to improve thermal insulation in the attic are to be investigated, aiming for a U-value of 0.14 W/m²K. The attic is to be insulated according to the Building Energy Act and equipped with walkable wood-based panels. Monument protection requirements must be considered in all service phases. Work will be carried out in the existing building while maintaining ongoing operations on the lower floors.
