Transformation Planning for the Use of Geothermal Energy for Stadtwerke Schwerin
Creation of a grant-compliant expert report for the expanded use of deep and medium-deep geothermal energy for the Schwerin site: The report serves as a component of the transformation plan of Stadtwerke Schwerin within the framework of the feasibility study of the Federal Funding for Efficient Heating Networks Module 1. Existing analyses and elaborations are to be processed, combined with further data sources, technical information, and experience, calculations performed, and integrated into a coherent overall concept. The expert report will be merged with other reports into the final transformation plan after an energy system analysis. For the variants developed within the concept, the required electrical connection capacities are to be determined, and the site-specific available grid connection options at the required grid voltage level are to be examined. Any necessary upgrade requirements for the existing electrical supply structure or the effort for the grid connection are to be technically described separately, estimated in terms of cost, and considered in the rough cost estimate. The effort for the grid connection of large electrical consumers and the effort for the connection to the existing district heating network are to be optimally considered in the site selection. The existing geothermal plant at the Lankow site has been in operation since 2024, pumps 56°C warm thermal water from approx. 1,200 m depth, extracts heat, and returns it at 20°C. The plant taps into an approx. 45 m thick Postera sandstone horizon with approx. 10 Darcy permeability and is dimensioned for a thermal water volume flow of 150 m³/h.
