Tunnel Upgrading for Nygårdstunnelen

Upgrading of Nygårdstunnelen (864 meters long, opened 1999, approx. 45,000 daily traffic) in Bergen according to tunnel safety regulations: replacement and renewal of equipment inside and outside the tunnel. This includes a new ventilation system, new lighting installations with tunnel roof lights and continuous evacuation lights, an extinguishing water system for the fire brigade, a new system for handling emissions and tunnel washing water, new signage with barriers, lane signals and variable signs, emergency stations with fire extinguishers and telephones, a camera system with full tunnel coverage and alarm function for events, a new technical building in the existing mountain room of the tunnel, the establishment of a new stop section at the technical building, and the demolition of the existing air treatment plant.
