Support for Decentralized Environmental Governance for the PADDI+ Program
Services for Strengthening Decentralized Environmental Governance: Direct local support for communes and community organizations to enhance their organizational capacities in sustainable land development and management. This support targets partners and beneficiaries of the PADDI+ program in seven protected areas of Madagascar (Andohahela, Ankarafantsika, Ankarana, Analamerana, Marolambo, Midongy du Sud, Montagne d'Ambre). The objective is to increase the budget allocated by communes for the protection of ecosystem services, strengthen local population ownership in implementing environmental measures, improve collaboration between local communities and Madagascar national parks, and promote the application of sustainable forestry and agricultural practices around the protected areas. The support specifically includes land use planning, land development, community participation, organizational development, community management, and community engagement.
