Seabed Investigations for Vaasa Fairway

Seabed investigations for the 9.0 m Vaasa fairway and Vaasa harbor: determination of ground conditions for the construction design of the fairway deepening. Works include borings (push/hammer and rotary drilling), soil sampling, and their laboratory analyses. The work will be performed from an at least 3-legged work platform capable of resting on the seabed up to a depth of approx. -18 m. Drilling depth is a maximum of approx. -16.0 m N2000. The aim is to determine the location of the rock surface and soil layer boundaries, soil types, and their dredgeability. Additionally, sediment samples will be taken. The planned dredging level for the fairway is -12.0 m N2000 in the outer part and -11.5 m N2000 in the inner part. Sediment sampling and partial analysis will be conducted in autumn 2026, with other works completed by spring 2027 at the latest. One consulting contract will be awarded.
