Improvement of the Inkoo Fairway

Hydraulic engineering works for the improvement of the Inkoo fairway: The overall project comprises two separate contracts (Urakka 1 and Urakka 2), with Urakka 2 divided into parts A (Inkoo fairway) and B (Koverhar fairway). The works include dredging, disposal, and blasting operations, as well as modifications to safety devices related to fairway marking. Urakka 1 involves deepening the area in front of the new pier and a new fairway area to a design depth of 13 m, including approximately 70,000 cubic meters of dredging and underwater blasting. Part of the dredged material is unsuitable for sea disposal and will be dredged using special techniques and deposited in a basin to be built in the port area for further processing. Urakka 2 A involves the improvement of the 13-meter fairway leading to Inkoo port by widening the fairway area at the port end, enabling safer vessel arrival and departure for the LNG terminal. This includes approximately 200,000 cubic meters of dredging, to be disposed of in a sea disposal area off Inkoo; a small part of the dredged material is unsuitable for sea disposal and will be dredged using special techniques and deposited in a basin to be built in the port area for further processing. Urakka 2 B involves deepening the Koverhar/Lappohja fairway from 12 m to 14 m design depth, including fairway dredging and underwater rock blasting. Cohesive soil types suitable for sea disposal (clay, silt) will be disposed of in the sea disposal area in the Hanko fairway. The work sites under the responsibility of the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency are divided into a total of 6 dredging sites (RK1c, RK2a, RK2b, RK3, RK4, and RK5 (option)). Changes to fairway marking in the Koverhar section and the implementation of the 14 m design depth / hs -15.4m N2000 will occur at a later stage, after separate works by Hanko port are completed. The works for Hanko port (RK 1a, RK 1b) presented in the construction plans are not part of this contract. RK 5 will be executed as an option. The contract includes the entirety defined in the contract documents, with all arrangements, equipment, and devices.
