Ventilation System Renovation for Wuppertal Campus

Renovation of ventilation systems for the Wuppertal Campus: comprehensive renovation of existing ventilation systems, with no existing systems remaining in the building distribution. Ventilation supply is provided by rooftop air handling units with a total air volume of approx. 165,000 m³/h, distributed among 14 units. Of these, 12 units (galvanized system) supply one office wing including ancillary areas on the ground floor across all levels, one unit is for the event room, and another in stainless steel for the canteen/kitchen. Each unit is equipped with a cross-flow heat exchanger, air heater (fed by heating distribution), and air cooler with direct cooling (incl. direct evaporator, compressor, and condenser). The base design is 200 mm, positioned on steel platforms/beams. Refrigerant R513 A is used. Duct distribution for supply and exhaust air is via the roof into 12 technical shafts per floor, with fire protection partitioning and base fire dampers in the floor of each level. Supply to each office wing branches out from these shafts via centrally arranged ceiling coffers with built-in grilles and connection box combinations, each grille containing a sound insulation and volume control combination. Ancillary areas such as WCs and corridors receive disc valves and swirl diffusers, special areas such as the canteen and event room receive slot diffusers. Ventilation is control-regulated based on carbon dioxide content in occupied rooms. Small systems are also part of the scope. Rooftop ventilators in PPs and galvanized systems are planned for BOS, BMA, and SIB control centers, the waste room, and for emergency supply and exhaust air for the chiller room. All piping systems must be insulated according to GEG, and fire protection measures as well as professional fastening technology must be considered.

Rainwater is distributed from the cistern via a central unit in the sanitary technical area on the ground floor. Water is distributed in WC cores over five floors via risers; kitchenettes and cleaning rooms with slop sinks are nearby. Hygienic flushing or continuous flow to the flushing point for extraction points; hot water supply in these areas via electric instantaneous water heaters. Six WCs for disabled facilities are to be provided. Drainage of sanitary facilities is via a PP-MD pipe system with downpipes in the WC cores; a grease separator is installed in the waste room. Downpipes are to be installed and connected up to the prepared main drainage connection. Rainwater pipes in plastic are to be installed internally from the external transfer point, routed, and connected to main drainage. All pipe systems are to be insulated according to GEG; fire protection measures and professional fastening technology are to be considered. Firefighting measures include the installation of six dry risers over all floors in the stairwells with external inlet boxes and outlet boxes on the levels, as well as the installation and preparation of a hydrant separation station in the sanitary technical area.
