Medical Second Opinion Procedure for Orthopedic Diseases

Medical second opinion reports for orthopedic procedures: Coordination of the second opinion process, including initial telephone or digital contact with the insured, collection of medical documents, assessment by an authorized specialist physician with at least five years of surgical experience based on records, and explanation of the final report within 3-5 working days in a consultation. The report contains an evidence-based recommendation on whether surgery is medically indicated or if conservative treatment is preferable. In case of deviation from the initial diagnosis, a physician-to-physician contact can be established upon explicit request of the insured. Provision of a telephone consultation service (Mon-Fri, 9 AM-6 PM) as well as online and postal channels. Monthly reports to DAK-Gesundheit based on non-insured-related statistical key figures. Event-driven structured follow-up surveys of the insured for quality assurance and evaluation, with results prepared in a structured evaluation report and provided to DAK-Gesundheit. Remuneration is a flat fee per second opinion issued. Framework contract duration: two years with two extension options of one year each.
