Broadband Expansion for Bautzen District Cluster 17
Award of subsidies for broadband expansion: Closing the profitability gap for a private operator of public telecommunications networks for the construction and operation of a sustainable Gigabit network infrastructure, in accordance with Gigabit-RL 2.0 (13.01.2025), within Cluster 17 of the Bautzen district. The cluster includes parts of the municipalities Bautzen, Doberschau-Gaußig, Göda, Großpostwitz/O.L., Hochkirch, Kubschütz, Obergurig, and Weißenberg, covering 5,542 addresses. The objective is the widespread establishment of Gigabit networks in "grey areas" with a reliable bandwidth of at least 1 Gigabit/s symmetric. The subsidy is a fixed amount to cover the profitability gap, disbursed in tranches upon reaching milestones. Minimum requirements for bidders: a minimum turnover of 4 million € from comparable services in the last four financial years and reference projects with at least 4,000 connected subscribers. The selected bidder bears entrepreneurial risk and becomes the owner of the networks.
