Broadband expansion for Bautzen district, Cluster 18
Granting of subsidies to close the profitability gap for broadband expansion in Bautzen district, Cluster 18: Construction and operation of a sustainable and high-performance telecommunications network infrastructure (Gigabit network) according to Gigabit-RL 2.0 of 13.01.2025 in parts of the municipalities of Bischofswerda, Cunewalde, Demitz-Thumitz, Großharthau, Neukirch/Lausitz, Rammenau, Schirgiswalde-Kirschau, Schmölln-Putzkau, Sohland a. d. Spree, Steinigtwolmsdorf, and Wilthen, covering 6,184 addresses. The goal is the comprehensive establishment of Gigabit networks in "grey areas" with at least 1 Gigabit/s symmetric bandwidth. The procedure is a two-stage negotiation process with a preceding Europe-wide call for competition. Minimum requirements for bidders: minimum turnover of at least 4 million € from comparable services in the last four business years and reference projects with at least 4,000 connected subscribers. The subsidy is granted as a fixed amount to close the profitability gap and is paid in tranches upon reaching milestones; additional expenses are not eligible for funding. The selected bidder bears an economic risk and becomes the owner of the networks. Clusters 16-19 represent the final component for full development in Bautzen district.
