Pool of experts for inclusive Contract Farming (iCF) schemes
Specialized technical assistance for the design and implementation of inclusive Contract Farming (iCF) schemes in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda: Provision of a pool of experts for one-on-one advisory and business development support to 10 agribusinesses (5 in Kenya, 3 in Ethiopia, 2 in Uganda). Support covers technical business development, investor readiness, digital transformation, climate adaptation, and access to finance. Key interventions include enterprise diagnostics, market analysis, business process optimization, governance and compliance strengthening, financial management improvements, climate-smart and digital business solutions, market linkage facilitation, and investment matchmaking. Additional support includes strengthening inclusive contract farming arrangements with smallholder farmers, facilitating B2B and B2C linkages, strengthening partnerships with export promotion organizations (e.g., Import Promotion Desk), and supporting enterprises in meeting domestic and export market requirements (quality, traceability, compliance). The tender is structured into three work packages: Work Package 1 covers agribusiness onboarding and strategy development, including identification, onboarding, diagnostic assessment, strategic planning support for participating agribusinesses, development of selection criteria, onboarding/kick-off sessions, and detailed enterprise diagnostics for business reform strategies. Work Package 2 involves the implementation of approved business reform strategies through bundled business development support at strategic level (e.g., procurement systems, business process re-engineering, digitalization, product development, market access, access to finance) and operational level (e.g., accounting, bookkeeping, compliance, HR development), strengthening iCF capacities, raising awareness among farmers and enterprises, applying the GIZ iCF methodology, developing innovative services/technologies, and facilitating business exchange and exposure activities (B2B/B2C, IPD linkages, market platforms). Work Package 3 includes establishing a monitoring, evaluation, and reporting system to monitor implementation progress, assess enterprise performance, track project indicators, and document impact stories, case studies, and lessons learned.
