Timber, Steel, Window, and Facade Works for BMUKN Extension Building

Timber construction, steel construction, window, and facade cladding works for the extension building of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUKN) in Berlin-Mitte: approx. 145 m³ glulam columns, approx. 50 m³ glulam edge beams, approx. 3,150 m² cross-laminated timber ceilings D 240 mm including steel components and fire protection cladding, approx. 890 m² non-load-bearing external wall elements in timber frame construction made of laminated veneer lumber including insulation and cladding, approx. 360 m² hip roof elements with integrated dormers in timber frame construction made of laminated veneer lumber including insulation and cladding, approx. 155 m² non-load-bearing F90 external wall as a multi-part drywall construction. Additionally, approx. 5 tons of steel beams, approx. 38 tons of steel angles for supporting the ceilings, approx. 19 tons of steel frames as a mansard roof construction. Supply and installation of 217 units of wood-aluminum windows (multi-part with ventilation sash, impact pane, and integrated railing), 18 units of wood-aluminum windows (multi-part with ventilation sash, impact pane, and integrated railing for dormer mansard roof), 12 units of aluminum windows, 12 units of wood-aluminum windows as F90 fire protection windows, 32 units of cassette roller blinds for glare protection. Facade claddings include approx. 895 m² curtain-type rear-ventilated facade made of PV elements, approx. 235 m² curtain-type rear-ventilated facade made of glass elements with PV optics, approx. 675 m² curtain-type rear-ventilated facade made of fiber cement panels (each including connection flashings, window frames, window sills, insulation), approx. 180 m² mansard roof cladding with aluminum standing seam roofing and mounted PV or glass elements (including connection flashings, dormer claddings, window sills, box gutter, insulation), approx. 460 m rainwater downpipe made of galvanized steel, approx. 80 m parapet capping including internal cladding. Installation of PV modules consisting of 7,800 m cabling, 15 units of inverters, 6 units of switching units. Execution is to begin within 12 working days after notification (expected by 12.10.2026), completion by calendar week 13, 2028. Binding individual deadlines: start of site assembly KW 5, 2027; building envelope (installation of facade elements including windows) KW 42, 2027. A BNB Gold certification is sought for the building and Silver for the outdoor facilities; the contractor must cooperate in the certification and observe requirements regarding low waste, noise, dust, and compliance with federal soil protection and contaminated sites regulations. Material requirements according to quality level 5 apply, and all materials must be declared regarding their ingredients/properties (Annex 02 “Declaration Tables” in Excel, technical data sheets and safety data sheets according to 1907/2006/EG).
