Intelligent Surfaces for Resilient Communication and Sensing
Development of an adaptively controllable transmission and reception technology based on meta-surfaces (e.g., Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS)) for indirect communication and reconnaissance (active and passive) within the InSuReCS research program. The technology aims to minimize the risk of reconnaissance of one's own position and enable highly available, broadband, and secure communication and long-range reconnaissance with high directionality for mobile field teams. Intelligent meta-surfaces, intended for use in the upcoming 6G mobile communications standard, are to be adapted for flexible deployment in conflict and crisis management scenarios. Key innovation goals include platform-independent usability, good integration into existing and future radio applications, and continuous adaptation of the RIS configuration in highly mobile deployment scenarios.
