Soil Science Construction Supervision for U5 Subway Expansion Hamburg
Notice title: Leistungen der bodenkundliche Baubegleitung
Soil science construction supervision for the U5 subway expansion in Hamburg: Definition and control of measures for the preservation and restoration of soil functions (soil protection concept) during construction. This includes soil protection briefings for construction companies, creation of a soil protection leaflet, soil science consulting during construction, ensuring the implementation of the soil protection concept (e.g., control of topsoil storage, ongoing monitoring of soil condition such as soil moisture, water tension, consistency, soil load-bearing capacity, compaction state). Protocols are to be kept for each inspection. Inspections are weekly for the first 1.5 years and bi-weekly for another 1.5 years. Control of compliance with soil protection and waste law regulations and requirements from PFB: measures for soil removal (consideration of weather conditions, use of load-distributing construction machinery, separate removal of topsoil and subsoil, regressive approach), measures for intermediate storage (e.g., separate intermediate storage of topsoil and subsoil intended for vegetation according to DIN 19639:2019-09, determination of duration, use of suitable seed mixture, soil-friendly management), definition of recultivation goals and target use on temporarily used areas, definition of measures for compliance with recultivation goals (e.g., deep loosening for harmful subsoil compaction, separate application of topsoil and subsoil with crawler excavators without driving on the soil), measures for protection against harmful soil changes and contamination of the soil by the introduction of disturbing and harmful substances and their mobilization, measures for protection against soil erosion. Close coordination with environmental construction supervision (UBB) is required. Monitoring of re-installation measures: necessary soil protection measures in unforeseen situations, layer-by-layer re-installation, avoiding surface load on the existing subsoil during installation, avoiding too loose installation, ensuring careful handling of topsoil, ensuring new topsoil is not driven on, ensuring regressive re-installation of topsoil (requirements according to DIN 18915 and 19731). Post-inspection of completed construction sections with documentation of the area's condition. Documentation includes a start report, an annual intermediate report, and a final report.
