Environmental assessments for sand extraction Westerland III: Preparation of an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) according to § 3 para. 1 HOAI and a generally understandable summary (GUS) of the EIA according to § 6 para. 3 UVPG. Investigations of protected assets according to the scoping document of 19.03.2026, specifically the update of the sound report from 16.11.2007 for marine mammals. For fish, investigations are planned in extraction fields 2a to 2c and 3a to 3d, a reference area, and an existing extraction funnel (1a and/or 1b), with 15 trawl lines using a beam trawl per investigation period and an additional 15 hauls of pelagic fish with a suitable net during the spring/summer investigation. The test sections will be investigated over 2 years in the investigation period from autumn 2026 to summer 2028, including sampling times, equipment standards, and processing of fishing hauls according to STUK. Development of a Landscape Management Plan (LMP) according to § 31 para. 1 HOAI, all necessary NATURA 2000 compatibility studies according to § 34 BNatSchG (including any necessary exemption examination and description of coherence measures), a species protection expert report (SPER) with any necessary compensatory measures, as well as expert reports on the European Water Framework Directive (WFD) and the European Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD). Three coordination meetings with the client in Husum are scheduled for the investigations of marine mammal and fish protected assets and the expert reports (LMP, NATURA 2000, SPER, WFD, MSFD). Processing of responses to objections and comments received during the participation procedure, participation in the public hearing, and a one-time revision of the documents based on the results of the public hearing (if required).
