Environmental Impact Assessment and Expert Opinions for Westerland III

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) according to § 3 para. 1 HOAI and an easily understandable summary (AVZ) of the EIA according to § 6 para. 3 UVPG. This includes investigations of protected assets according to the scoping document of March 19, 2026, including an update of the sound report from November 16, 2007, for marine mammals. Fish investigations will be conducted in extraction fields 2a to 2c and 3a to 3d, with the recording of a suitable reference and an existing extraction funnel (1a and/or 1b). This comprises 15 trawl lines with a beam trawl per investigation period, plus 15 hauls of pelagic fish with a suitable net during the spring or summer investigation. The test sections will be examined over 2 years, from autumn 2026 to summer 2028, considering sampling times, equipment standards, and processing of fish hauls according to STUK. Furthermore, the preparation of a Landscape Management Plan (LBP) according to § 31 para. 1 HOAI, NATURA 2000 compatibility studies according to § 34 BNatSchG including any necessary exemption review and coherence measures, and an expert report on species protection law (AFB) with any necessary compensatory measures are included. Expert reports on the European Water Framework Directive (WFD) and the European Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) will be prepared. The contract includes three coordination meetings with the client in Husum for protected asset investigations and expert opinions, processing of responses to objections and comments received during the participation procedure, participation in the public discussion meeting, and a one-time revision of the documents based on the results of the public discussion meeting if required.
