The modules are to be installed in aluminum housings with SMA connectors, subjected to full RF characterization, and delivered with proof of functionality and complete documentation. Designed for use within a typical (commercial) temperature range, built without ITAR components. Delivery time for one test module is 9 months from order, with further modules to be delivered within an additional 6 months.

The lasers must excite two specific transitions of the D1 line of Rubidium-87. At least one of the lasers must be stabilized to one of the two atomic lines; the second laser will either be operated on the other line or preferably phase-locked with the first laser with a frequency offset of 6.835 GHz (offset-locking), controlled by a microwave frequency reference.
